The New Light in Thermal Imaging

OEM Solutions

You are an OEM who has decided to launch a thermal imaging product to your mass market customer base.  You recognize the value of associating this advanced technology with your brand and the growth it can bring to your top line.  You've seen thermal imaging start to penetrate your verticals and you want in on the action and to defend your turf.

What are your options?  Until RedShift, they were unattractive:

  • Buy a camera core from a defense contractor:  Buying a camera core is the easiest way to build a product since it lets you focus on the parts of the product you know best—industrial design, interfaces, marketing—while letting your supplier worry about the tricky thermal imaging technology.  The problem is, most of the camera cores on the market today are offered by defense contractors who build expensive products tailored to military users.  Most are not interested in or set up to serve the unique demands of commercial OEMs and the cores don’t have the features mass market customers need.

  •  Buy a camera core from a competitor:  The market share leader in uncooled thermal imaging today has an attractive line of cores.  However, this company also is competing with its own brand of finished goods in inspection, maintenance, security, boating and automotive markets.  If it is not competing with you already, it may be tomorrow.  Do you want to source a strategic technology from a competitor?

  • Buy a microbolometer chip and build your own thermal imaging expertise:  There are numerous merchant suppliers of microbolometer chips.  However, if you decide to source such a component prepare to make a substantial investment of time and money in learning the “black art” of thermal camera design.  One recent OEM who chose this route claimed that its development project took 5 years and cost $5 million.

Or, you can work with RedShift.

RedShift’s OEM cameras are designed to get you to market quickly and easily.  We have built many product features directly into the camera, are experienced integrating to batteries and LCDs and will offer the support to get you up and running quickly.  And our breakthrough Optical Thermal Imaging technology ensures long-term cost competitiveness even against vertically integrated competition.
